Where are we planning on going?
CFB Cold Lake (4 Wing)
When are we planning on going?
25-28 Mar 18. This includes two days travel, one of which was placed on a weekend date to minimize school time lost.
I did not sign up earlier. Can I still sign up?
No. Sign ups are now closed.
Where do I sign up?
You can no longer sign up.
Yes! You did. Sign ups are now closed.
18 Mar. This is a cut off imposed by CFB Cold Lake to ensure meals, security access, accomodations, etc. are secured with a final nominal roll. This is a hard deadline for sign ups, and strongly suggested for paperwork submission. Sign ups MAY close earlier depending on demand.
Nothing. This trip is being sponsored by the 604 Squadron Sponsoring Committee, with no direct cost to cadets out of pocket. Cadets may choose to bring some spending money for souvenirs (some units have small kit shops for unique Squadron and/or RCAF branded items), but this is optional.
Do I have to complete forms / permission slips?
Yes. All the forms are contained in the information notice. Please fill in all the information it asks for. While quite long and extensive, these forms are a mandatory requirement for all cadet units on such a journey.
Where do I turn in completed forms / paperwork?
Directly to the OPI, anytime before departure (earlier is strongly recommended). Forms / paperwork will NOT be accepted until complete and correct. Expect to have your form reviewed before acceptance. Documents left at admin, duty desk, etc. will not be magically collected, reviewed, and accepted – turn them in directly to the OPI.
This evening will consist of a short briefing on what we’re hoping to do, followed by an opportunity to ask questions and consult with the OPI. This is also the best time to clarify paperwork and ensure all forms are in order – there is frequently little time to do so on busy Tuesday evenings.
When is the briefing and paperwork session?
11 Mar 18, 1830-2030h, Garrison Dining Room, Mewata Armoury
Do I have to attend the briefing and paperwork session?
No. But it is the easiest place to get your questions answered, and to make sure all the required forms are filled in correctly.
Do I have to fill in / return so many forms?
Yes. This is a mandatory requirement set at a national level. Forms not completed or incorrectly filled will not be accepted by the OPI. No form, no trip, no exceptions.
What do the cadets need to bring?
Check the information notice, which has all the details.
Yes. If in doubt, contact the OPI in advance.
Maybe. Cadets will be dining in mess facilities operated by 4 Wing Food Services. Food Services is not mandated to provide allergen free meals or support dietary restrictions by the CAF/DND. The logical result of this is that they cannot guarantee support of dietary restrictions or allergen free foods, even if they are likely to be allergen free, or likely have the ability to support dietary restrictions. In short, such accommodations cannot be promised.
Will any of this change?
