The Lord Strathcona Trust Fund Medal is the highest award that can be bestowed upon a cadet in recognition of exemplary performance in physical and military training.
Lord Strathcona’s objectives in establishing his endowment were to:
1. encourage the improvement of the physical and intellectual capabilities of cadets; and
2. foster patriotism in cadets through the acquisition of a good knowledge of military matters.
3. The recipient must have a complete knowledge of the activities of the cadet movement and must meet the following requirements:
3.1 have a high level of physical fitness;
3.2 have qualified to a training level not below Level 3 in the Air Cadets;
3.3 have met all requirements of their corps/sqn’s mandatory training program and attended at least 75 per cent of the scheduled training parades in the year of nomination;
3.4 have met all requirements of their corps/sqn’s optional/support training program and participated in at least 50 per cent of scheduled activities in the year of nomination;
3.5 have completed three years as a cadet; and
3.6 be regarded by peers and supervisors as exemplifying the model cadet.
The nomination shall take the form of a personal letter and shall describe how the member meets each of Points 1-3 above. Nominations must be submitted in writing to 604 Lord Strathcona Medal Nominating Committee, c/o Lt C. Dunnill Jones NLT 15 Mar 19. Cadets who wish to be considered may obtain a copy of their Cadet Information Card and Training Summary from Lt C. Dunnill Jones.
A nomination committee will review the nominations submitted. Should a suitable candidate be identified, the CO may submit this nomination to Regional Awards Committee.
