The SPIRIT of Victory is an initiative of the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta through the History and Heroes Foundation. This contest celebrates the 75th anniversary of the end of the Second World War in Europe, also known as Victory in Europe or V-E Day. Cadets from across Alberta are invited to develop and deliver a speech that honours this important moment in our history.
The goal of this contest is to build an awareness of, and appreciation for, the experience of the Second World War and what it means to Albertans today. It will help teach cadets to understand the freedoms they are so fortunate to have in this country, and the debt owed to the brave Canadian heroes who fought for them.
