604!! The Joint Task Force Nijmegen Canadian Contingent challenges us to ruck up and walk 5km on each of any two days from 1 to 9 May 2021.
This Challenge is open to cadets and their family members – everyone is welcome!
This Victory March is a new challenge where Canadians can symbolically march alongside members of the Canadian Armed Forces as one united team. This challenge combines physical fitness and remembrance of the special relationship that unites Canada and the Netherlands.
This affinity dates back to the Second World War when the Canadian military took part in the liberation of the Netherlands. Every year since 1952, Canadian Armed Forces personnel have rucked up and marched in the International Four Day Marches in Nijmegen, Netherlands. However, the 2020 event had to be cancelled due to COVID. That year was of particular meaning as it was the 75th anniversary of the Liberation of the Netherlands in which Canada played an essential role.
This year 604 has the opportunity to pay tribute by symbolically walking two sets of 5 km with a backpack on each of any two days between Sat 1 May and Sun 9 May 2021.
To prepare for this, 604 will hold Victory March Challenge Virtual Training from Thurs 1 April to Fri 30 April 2021. Weekly objectives are:
Training Week 1 (1-9 Apr): Wearing a backpack, walk 3 km on each of any two days, share a picture on 604 Fitness Challenges on Discord
Training Week 2 (10-16 Apr): Wearing a backpack, walk 3.5 km on each of any two days, share a picture on 604 Fitness Challenges on Discord
