The cadet music program is an optional program that consists of six levels: Basic to Level 5. Levels Basic, 1 and 2 will develop musical ability and enable cadets to play in the squadron band for parades and local activities.
Levels 3, 4 and 5 will develop individual skills, as members become senior cadet musicians, leading to their abilities to instruct junior cadets at the corps and squadron and to assist as staff cadets during the summer. For military band musicians, Levels 3, 4 and 5 are designed to cover all aspects of the Royal Conservatory of Music program except the technical studies.
The 604 Military Band is made up of beginner and experienced musicians who are responsible for regular parade night duties. Band members will have the opportunity to participate in ceremonies, parades, music concentration weekends and if selected, the Northwest Region Honour Band.
In addition to regular Tuesday evening parades, band members are expected to attend band practices on Monday evenings 1830 hrs to 2100 hrs.
Our goal will be to act as the squadron ambassadors. As a band, we not only give the first impression of the squadron; but also the last. It is a serious position to be in, however, through hard work and commitment, we will accomplish our goals and have fun at the same time! If you are interested in joining the band please speak to the Flight Commander of Hornet Flight (the band’s flight name).
